Australian World War Stories began as a social media page during the Covid lockdowns of 2020, started by Ben Harris as a way to further his own research and education on the subject.

Ben's first encounter with Australian military history came through his grandfather, Donald Glanville, a telegraphist in the Merchant Navy during the Second World War. Don was said to have brought a Japanese rifle home from the war, and had nightmares for years until the day he got rid of it.

Ben has collected militaria since he was fourteen, and across two decades of career and family he has kept coming back to this passion with more determination each time.

"I believe that Australia's history, especially our rich military history, should be remembered every day and not just on two days a year. The important lessons of war and sacrifice are far too important to be forgotten. Remembrance of our heroes can encourage peace and security for future generations."
